OSU President, Wife Kick-Off United Way Campaign |

“The Stillwater Area United Way has been serving the community since 1952, and Oklahoma State University has always been an enthusiastic supporter of the organization,” Schmidly said.
“This year OSU has set $180,000 as our goal for the United Way’s local campaign. United Way agencies do vital work for the Stillwater community and Janet and I are pleased to officially launch our campaign to meet the university’s goal,” Schmidly said.
The money raised is divided between 26 local agencies that directly impact the OSU family as well as others across the community.
“Ninety-nine percent of the money raised in Stillwater stays in Stillwater to benefit more than 55,000 people,” said Shelley Ricker, Stillwater Area United Way executive director.
The United Way’s community-wide goal for the 2006 campaign is $760,000, which is 37 times higher than the organization’s goal when it started in 1952.
“The Stillwater Area United Way greatly depends on OSU’s donation each year to meet our financial goals and we appreciate the role OSU employees play in making Stillwater a better place to live,” Ricker said.
Bob Dixon, co-director of OSU’s United Way campaign, said OSU employees will be receiving information this month on how they can participate in this year’s drive.
