Wellness tip: Garlic and cholesterol
Several research studies have looked at garlic’s impact on blood pressure and cholesterol. While the evidence is mixed, a recent study reported in the Archives of Internal Medicine casts doubt on garlic’s ability to lower LDL “bad” cholesterol. Eating garlic is considered safe for most adults and may offer other health benefits. To be safe, let your health care provider know if you are taking garlic or other dietary supplements since they can interact with some medicines. Wellness tips are brought to you by the OSU Seretean Wellness Center, dedicated to making OSU the Healthiest Campus in America. For more information about services for students, faculty and staff, call 744-WELL (9355).
