OSU will soon be home to the National Center for Veterinary Parasitology, which recently received its second industry partner. Bayer HealthCare, LLC, Animal Health Division will join Novartis Animal Health to offer the program financial support. This partnership will help accomplish the center’s mission to further the many advances made in controlling parasitic diseases.

  • OSU-OKC establishes Collar Institute for Child Passenger Safety
    The OSU-OKC has established the Collar Institute for Child Passenger Safety to provide state-of-the-art education in child passenger safety for families and passenger safety technicians. The Collar Institute, named after Oklahoma child injury prevention advocate and Safe Kids Oklahoma founder Martha Collar, is funded through a grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office.     OSU professor to address World Food Crisis tonight
    Tonight's Stillwater Global Affairs Forum will feature OSU professor of Agricultural Economics Dr. Mike Dicks on “World Food Crisis” at 7 p.m. in the Stillwater Public Library. The forum is a quarterly discussion on global issues and how they affect our community. It is free and open to the public.     OSU-Tulsa students’ videos “go public” on Thursday
    What do people consider creative? Thirty-nine students at OSU-Tulsa have been working on that concept and have produced videos that show their interpretations of creativity. The students in the new Creative Marketing course will present their video projects Thursday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in the OSU-Tulsa Auditorium. OSU will host its first Creativity Festival Feb. 16-17 in Stillwater. For more information, click here.

    Leadership seminar set on ethics in the business world
    Business and government professionals are encouraged to attend “Ethics in Today’s Business World” on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the CREC Training Center, 3304 S. Boomer Road in Stillwater. The seminar, part of the LeadershipSource Professional Development Program, will feature Dr. Mac McCrory. The fee for the seminar is $85 per person.     SUAB to host internationally known sex educator
    The OSU Student Union Activities Board is bringing internationally known sex educator Jay Friedman to campus for a lecture titled “The J-Spot: A Sex Educator Tells All,” on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Student Union Theater. Friedman's lecture will entertain while educating on important and timely sexuality issues. The event is open to the entire campus community.     OSU Coaches vs. Cancer needs volunteers

    The game against Iowa State on Saturday, Feb. 14, has been designated as Swish Day, the annual fundraiser for the OSU Coaches vs. Cancer campaign. Volunteers are needed to help pass buckets and collect donations at halftime. They are asked to pick up their bucket prior to the game, pass their bucket through a designated section at halftime, then return the bucket to the OSU Coaches vs. Cancer table. The game is a 3 p.m. tip and you must have a ticket to the game. If you can help, please e-mail Mindy Walthall, OSU CvC volunteer coordinator, at mindy.walthall@okstate.edu.  

    Russian history expert to speak during research week
    Russian history expert Norman Saul will talk about one of the founders of Russian studies in America on Monday, Feb. 16, during OSU’s Research Week. Saul, professor of history from the University of Kansas, will give a lecture titled “Charles R. Crane: A Leading Industrialist, Globalist, Philanthropist and Founder of Russian Studies in America,” at 3:30 p.m. in the Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room at the Edmon Low Library.     Join the King’s Singers for a royal performance
    OSU Allied Arts will host the King’s Singers, a top a capella singing group, for a performance on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall.’ The King’s Singers are counted among the world’s elite classical performers.     “Casablanca” to show tonight

    The OSU History Club’s Classic Film Series continues with one of the most famous romance/dramas in film history, “Casablanca,” tonight (Feb. 11) at 7 p.m. in 313 CLB.  Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, the film is set in Morocco during World War II. The film is free and open to the public.

    Business and government professionals are encouraged to attend “Supervisory Program: Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching the Next Generation of Leaders” on Feb. 19-20, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  each day at OSU-Tulsa.     “Cowboys on the Move” walking club invites you
    As part of the Cowboys on the Move initiative, the Seretean Wellness Center will be leading walks through campus two days per week.     Safe Zone: GLBT allies training scheduled next week
    A workshop for those interested in becoming an ally for GLBT students will be held Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. in Willard Hall, room 326. The workshop will focus on ways to be a resource for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students and to show support for a community that has a need for allies.     WellnessWellness tip: Help to stop binge eating
    A recent study shows binge eating is much more common than previously thought. Simple breathing, relaxation and acknowledging feelings can be helpful for reducing the length of a binge episode. Breaking the cycle of binge eating takes time and patience; and for some people, getting help from a registered dietitian or other health professional with experience in eating disorders is recommended. Wellness tips are brought to you by the OSU Seretean Wellness Center, dedicated to making OSU the Healthiest Campus in America.
