Record-breaking attempt underway at OSU
Dr. Steven Price, associate vice president for Technology Development and director of the Office of Intellectual Property Management at OSU, is attempting to break the current world record of 3,116 pull-ups in 24 hours. The 57-year-old Price started at 10 a.m. this morning (Tuesday, April 21) at the Colvin Recreation Center Outdoor Adventure Area (located at the base of the climbing wall). The attempt is being held in conjunction with a 24-hour climb-a-thon sponsored by Outdoor Adventure. The climb-a-thon teams will compete to raise the most amount of money for the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. For additional information, please contact (405) 744-5581.
Alumni Association introduces next homecoming theme
The OSU Alumni Association’s 2009 homecoming theme is “Branded For Life!” Homecoming will be Oct. 16-17 in Stillwater and will culminate with the Missouri vs. OSU football game on Saturday, Oct. 17. “America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration” has been presented each year by the OSU Alumni Association since 1920. “Go Green. Ride Orange” on Earth Day
THE BUS OSU/Stillwater Community Transit system is offering free rides on all routes on Wednesday, April 22, to celebrate Earth Day 2009. Additionally, a limited number of “Go Green. Ride Orange.” T-shirts will be distributed on the buses during Earth Day. FACT: For every mile traveled on public transit, riders will produce 95 percent less carbon monoxide than driving, according to the American Public Transportation Association.

Skin cancer awareness campaign launched
The Division of Academic Affairs is sponsoring a skin cancer awareness campaign in support of OSU student Amy Morse by skin cancer information and free samples of products at the Chi-O clock from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday through Friday through May 8. Donations will be accepted at the clock, Career Resource Center (308 SU) and the Office of Vice President of Student Affairs, 201 Whitehurst. Proceeds will benefit Amy Morse and her medical expenses. Amy is a REMS doctoral student in the College of Education and Bennett resident hall assistant area coordinator. Faculty Recital Thursday
The OSU Department of Music will present a saxophone recital by Professor Ann Bradfield on Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts. The OSU Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students will host a lecture by Adam Yarinsky, “Dimension and Duration in Architecture,” on Thursday, April 23, at 5:30 p.m. in NRC 106. OSU Sexual Orientation Diversity Association will be hosting a formal prom, “Masqueerade,” at Starlight Terrace (fourth floor SU) on Saturday, April 25, from 8 – 11:30 p.m. The cost is $2 or two canned goods with the proceeds going to a local charity. Wellness tip: Shorter walks, same results
