OSU announces $1 million gift from Watson, five new faculty positions to benefit agricultural college

Oklahoma State University has announced a $1 million gift from alumni and Houston residents Kim and Chuck Watson to create two chairs: one in business and another in education at OSU.

In addition, OSU announced $1.25 million in donations from alumni, a bank and a foundation to fund five endowed professorships within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Those gifts are: 1) $250,000 from the Lew Meibergen Family for a plant and soil sciences professorship; 2) $250,000 from Kingfisher residents Jack and Joyce Stuteville and First Capital Bank to establish an agriculture education professorship in honor of Jack’s high school agriculture teacher; 3) $250,000 from Charles and Linda Shackelford to create a horticulture and landscape architecture professorship; 4) $250,000 from the 4-H Foundation of Oklahoma for an extension 4-H specialist; and 5) an anonymous donation of $250,000 for an equine science professorship.

Once fully matched dollar-for-dollar by T. Boone Pickens’ $100 million chair match commitment, as well as the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the impact of each gift will quadruple.
