Oehrtman to be inducted in Alpha Gamma Rho Hall of Fame
Dr. Robert “Bob” Oehrtman, emeritus professor of agricultural economics at Oklahoma State University, will receive Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity’s highest honor, induction into the organization’s Hall of Fame, on Aug. 15 in Breckenridge, Colo.
“Through teaching, research, and advising the Pi Chapter at Oklahoma State University, Bob has made a great impact on the lives of students, undergraduate AGR members, and the agriculture industry. His history of research, teaching, and volunteerism proves his worth of this honor,” said Philip Josephson, executive director of the fraternity.
Oehrtman, born in Greenville, Ohio, became a member of the Beta Chapter at Ohio State University in 1958 and earned his bachelor’s of science degree in agriculture in 1961. He earned his master’s degree in agricultural economics from Oregon State University, and his Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University. He joined the OSU faculty in 1970.
Since 1979, he has served as Pi Chapter adviser at Oklahoma State University, and has served as co-chair for numerous national convention committees. He is an AGR Brother of the Century, received the Outstanding Adviser Award in 1983, 2000 and 2002, and was awarded the Outstanding AGR Alumni Award for Pi Chapter in 1986.
Alpha Gamma Rho is the National Agricultural Fraternity with 66 chapters, and membership exceeds 60,000 men in 50 states and 54 countries. The fraternity’s goal is to make better men and to promote the increasingly important and versatile field of agriculture.
